Requirements for a Foreign Teacher Candidate

Qualification Requirements:   

A foreign language teacher candidate is supposed to teach his/her mother tongue and hold a bachelor’s degree or above issued by a mother-tongue speaking country and have two years of language teaching experience.

Those with an academic degree of education, language or teacher-training oriented major can be exempt from work experience requirement.

Those with a teacher certification from the native country or a TEFL/TESOL certificate (issued by a Foreign Experts Bureau in China or authentic institutions abroad recognized by The Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China) can be exempt from work experience requirement.

Documents required to apply for a work permit:

1. Work permit application form (filled online and then printed out, signed by the applicant, sealed by employer; original)

2. Work experience certificate (provided by the company or school, sealed and signed; copy)

3. Diploma or degree certificate and notarization (copy) 

4. teacher certification or TEFL certificate and notarization (copy)

5. Good Behavior Certificate/Certificate of No Criminal Record (original or copy)

6. Health certificate issued by medical institutions recognized by the Chinese Embassy or Consulate.

8.Originals and copies of valid passport or other international travel documents, visa, entry stamp;

9. One recently taken half-length, white background, bareheaded, full-faced photo, the face takes up about 2/3 of the photo space, JPG, more than 150KB, pixel 1024*768, resolution no lower than 300DPI, 32 true-color (original);

10. Other documents required when necessary.

Note: If the candidate has got a work permit to teach in China in recent three years, s/he doesn’t have to provide 3. Diploma or degree certificate and notarization (copy) and 5. Good Behavior Certificate/Certificate of No Criminal Record (original or copy). If the position applied for is similar to the previous one, s/he doesn’t have to provide 2. Work experience certificate (provided by the company or school, sealed and signed; copy).

Items 1 and 7 are to be checked with the employer.
