On June 25, 2018, Professor H.J. PAM of University of Hong Kong and Professor Y.L. Wong of Hong Kong University of Technology were invited to IDP to make academic reports entitled "Detailing For Durability In HK Non-EQ Reinforced Concrete Code" and "Performance of Different Passive Fire Protection Materials, And Solutions to Enhance Fire Protection of Existing Buildings". The report was presided over by Prof. Guo Xun of the Department of Earthquake Science, and some teachers and graduate students of IDP attended the report.

Prof. H. J. PAM mainly introduces the current seismic disaster risk level in Hong Kong and the seismic capacity of existing building structures. Combined with the current design code for reinforced concrete structures in Hong Kong, it focuses on the detailed design requirements for increasing the ductility of beam and column members in the code.

Prof. Y. L. Wong thinks that passive fire protection design can play an important role in reducing fire disasters. He expounds the basic principles of fire compartment and introduces the advantages and disadvantages of several widely used passive fire protection materials.

After the report, the two professors had an interactive communication with teachers and students, and answered the relevant questions raised by teachers and students.
