On the afternoon of April 26, 2018, the theme of "the 49th World Earth Day" was launched by the Land and Resources Physical Geological Data Center of China Geological Survey. Chen Hui, party secretary and deputy director of the Physical Geological Data Center, Qi Furong, secretary of the School Party Committee, attended the activity. Ren xiangai, director of the data service room of the Physical Geological Data Center, Zhang Chenguang, director of the Science and Technology Department, heads of relevant departments of the school and more than 400 students participated in the activity. The event was presided over by Zhang Chenguang.

In his speech, Chen Hui introduced the general situation of the Physical Geological Data Center and the basic situation of the activities of the 49th World Earth Day, and expressed his gratitude to IDP for its strong support. Qi Furong pointed out in his speech that the world earth day is a festival specially set up for environmental protection. The theme of this year's Earth Day activities is "Cherish Natural Resources, Care for Beautiful Land - Tell Our Earth Story", aiming to guide the public to establish the concept of "green water and green mountains are golden mountains and silver mountains" and "harmonious coexistence of human and nature". It is emphasized that the earth is the only home for human survival, and the natural resources on the earth are the material basis for human survival and development. It is hoped that the teachers and students of disaster prevention college should start from themselves, from small things, from now on, treat the earth well, cherish resources and protect the environment.

Su Dechen, a researcher of Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences, chief science communication expert of Land And Resources, and science popularization consultant of Land And Resources Physical Geological Data Center, made a science popularization report entitled "Scientific Drilling - the Golden Key to Decipher the Internal Structure of the Earth" for teachers and students. With humorous language and a large number of vivid pictures, he introduced in detail the efforts made by various countries in the world in "going up to the sky, entering the earth and going down to the sea", focusing on the history, role and achievements of ocean and continental scientific drilling. Su Dechen transformed his profound scientific knowledge into an easy-to-understand popular science language. The students actively participated in the discussion and interaction.

This campus activity of geoscience popularization integrates knowledge, interest and participation, which enables students to further understand the "telescope" - scientific drilling in the earth's interior, and further enhances the awareness of protecting the earth and cherishing resources. The activity has achieved good results and is highly praised by teachers and students.
